Block and Specialty Programming Teachers

Would you like to work with curious, imaginative students who want to take part in their learning?

Do you have certain specialty skills you would love to share with our students?

Join us at The Waldorf School of St. Louis, where we differ from other schools in the St. Louis area. Our students are taught through drawing, painting, music, handwork, speech, storytelling, sculpting, and more! We are looking for professionals with experience/subject matter expertise in different fields to educate our students for three to six week block units or through weekly Friday classes.

A block unit is a teaching segment on specific subjects that provide deep-dive learning on particular topics primarily to our middle-school students. Some examples of blocks that could be taught are: anatomy and physiology, astronomy, chemistry, geology, meteorology, physics, algebra, geometry, composition, poetry, theater and performance, civics, geography, and history.

Friday Programming is a weekly class covering a topic over the course of the year or several weeks. In recent years this has included: circus, cyber civics, and nature studies, but we are open to other ideas such as: archery, cooking, dance, specialized crafts (ie ceramics, glass, metalworking), or volunteering.

We are also open to subject ideas based on your expertise and willingness to teach – our students thrive on learning a variety of new and interesting topics to expand their knowledge.

The block or Friday Programming teacher will Collaborate with the class Lead Teacher to develop and understand educational objectives, prepare daily/weekly lesson plans, and review classroom expectations.

We welcome you to visit us and see our students in action. At The Waldorf School of St. Louis, we rethink what is possible in education.

Schedule: Part Time - generally mornings for block teachers, and/or all-day Fridays for Friday Programming teachers, but flexibility in scheduling can be discussed
